Hard to believe, but this show came just 3 weeks after John Lennon was gunned down. They played the film "Magical Mystery Tour" on a big screen behind

the stage before the concert started. And for those of us tripp'n in the audience it was a crazy touch. As the other reviewer noted, the show was a huge party -- everybody, I mean everybody, was dancing. I will go looking for the sbd to see if I can find it posted. This was a great turning point in my life as I had quit work a few days before and would take-off on a big ol'jet plane the next week for 6 months of backpacking around Nepal and India... what F**k'n great kick-off to a memorable year :)

Couldn't get past the sound, it's very distant and lacks clarity and presence. The audio spectrum is all there (highs/mids/lows) but it's just too far
...
away to appreciate. If you were there, go for it. I didn't keep this one and am going to try the soundboard.

the crowd can get really noisy at times and this AUD will show it. i just listened to the 3rd set and Encore and by that point the crowd volume had dropped.

the energy was still there but when they close the set with SSDD they say a very weak goodnight, then after the double encore bobby sounds half dead as he tells the crowd with little excitement, breakfast will be served by bill graham shortly. they do give a strong "satisfaction" as well as a nice brokedown palace, but c'mon, they couldnt make it out for one more song??? (maybe i'm just greedy from NYE's past)
the show is worth a download, i got it before the SBD was online so if you are more into those you might want to just go with that.
if you like audience recordings then this source is cool, you really feel the crowd when they get into it but when they are relatively calm the music is very clear.

my rating of 4 is based on a great AUDIENCE recording as well as a really fun NYE concert (more of a party it seems like), but not one of the most memorable.
